CrossFit Mean Streets is a gym operated by Competitors. We compete in the sport of fitness and are ready to do the unknown and the unknowable full time. We train our athletes in the gym the same way. We want our people capable of all tasks this world has to offer. This is a gym made for people who want to be good at everything and make no excuses about it.

World-Class Fitness in 100 Words:

■ Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds,
some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep
intake to levels that will support exercise but
not body fat.

■ Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean,
squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly,
master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups,
dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to
handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds.
Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast.

■ Five or six days per week mix these elements
in as many combinations and patterns
as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy.
Keep workouts short and intense.

■ Regularly learn and play new sports.

Coach Glassman speaks about CrossFit at Fort Hood

Coach Glassman at Fort Hood.
On Aug. 28, 2009, CrossFit co-founder and CEO Greg Glassman made an appearance on Fort Hood TV during a visit to the U.S. Army facility in Texas. Coach Glassman was invited to speak at a Commanders’ Call just as the Army was doing an eight-week evaluation of CrossFit vs. regular PT. Coach used the occasion to present the Army with $20,000 of fitness gear as part of Operation Phoenix.

Here is a short preview of that interview. If you guys want to see the whole thing plus a whole plethora of anything you want to know about training, subscribe to the CrossFit Journal, it is only 25 dollars a year. It will probably add some years onto your life, but it will definitely give you a better understanding of what you are doing in the gym.
